From INSPIRE to the European Location Framework
More than 100 delegates attended a recent workshop in Ukraine to discuss the European Location Framework and Spatial Data Infrastructures.
The two-day event - EuroGeographics: From INSPIRE Directive towards the European Location Framework - was hosted by the State Service for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre and attracted technocal experts from both public services and the private sector.
They heard that the European Location Framework will takes INSPIRE to the next level by providing the practical means for delivering operational cross-border and pan-European services. By standardising European geospatial information, it will help the free movement of interoperable data and will create a wide range of business opportunities, particularly for start ups, SMEs and application developers.
Legal, technical and practical issues in creating SDIs were also discussed with case studies presented by EuroGeographics’ members in Belarus, Croatia and Slovenia.
